Hamby’s Walkoff Gives Skyline Falcons Varsity Victory Over Erie

Skyline Falcons Varsity took Tuesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over Erie. Skyline Falcons Varsity was down 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Nick Hamby doubled off of Ruben Portillo, driving in two runs.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Skyline Falcons Varsity pitchers struck out 11, while Ruben Portillo sat down four.
Skyline Falcons Varsity took an early lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Avery Riddoch drove in one run when he singled.
In the top of the second inning, Erie tied things up at one. Sackett hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
Austin Soriano earned the win for Skyline Falcons Varsity. He pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero runs, zero hits, and walking zero. Portillo took the loss for Erie. He went seven innings, giving up three runs, five hits, and striking out four.
Nate Higgins started the game for Skyline Falcons Varsity. He pitched seven and a third innings, surrendering two runs, four hits, striking out 11, and walking one.
Nick Hamby, Caleb Zietlow, Riddoch, James Canar, and Jonah Chrisman each managed one hit to lead Skyline Falcons Varsity.
